Dare to plant seeds or take cuttings to get plants for free. Peppers have lots of seeds, so has tomatoes, both easy to collect, just let them dry off then store them until you need them. Mints are easy to propagate but to stop them being invasive, it’s perhaps better to pot grow them.

Flowers can be edible as well, add violas and nasturtium to salads, bergamot’s blue flowers frozen in ice cubes are nice in summer drinks. Electric daisies added to a summer cocktail is like bolt of electricity and will numb your mouth.
